Let's celebrate Chinese New Year together with Ricecracker's fun red envelope DIY activity. Money goes inside the envelope and it's then given to friends and family at New Year to wish luck and happiness.

These envelopes say 新年快樂 - that's Happy New Year in Chinese! You can read it out loud like this: "Sun lin fai lok" Print out your red envelope, or lai see, template here and then cut, colour and stick however you'd like. Traditionally the envelopes are red and golden but you can always use your artistic vision to decided how to decorate yours.

Follow our step-by-step below:

1. Gather your equipment. You'll need your printed template, scissors, glue and something to colour and / or decorate with.

2. Cut the template along the solid line, and fold the dotted ones.

3. Stick the flaps down to finish making the envelope.

4. Now the fun part - colouring it all in!
