DIY: Night Light Lantern
This winter turn your Noodoll night light into a softly glowing Christmas lantern. Read on to find out how.
We love warm and cosy winter evenings this time of year. With Christmas just around the corner and the nights getting chillier, it's the perfect time to get creative with your little ones and turn their Noodoll night light into a paper lantern. It's super easy to make. All you need is one sheet of A4 paper, some scissors, your night light and a magical winter's evening.
Follow the steps below to make yours!
1. Cut your paper in half lengthwise, then cut one of the halves in half again (this is time widthwise)
2. Fold the longest piece of paper into quarters (or in half then half again)
3. Then fold both of the middle two quarters in half again. So you have four smaller rectangles sandwiched between two bigger ones.
4. Grab one of your smaller pieces of paper (we just need one, the other you can recycle) and fold the shorter sides in 2cm each.
5. Place the smaller piece of paper so it sits like a squished U shape, and apply some glue to the outside of the folds you just made. Then place the long piece of paper over the top, and stick the bottom of its sides to the glued areas of the squished U shape.
6. Give it a good squeeze to make sure it's stuck well. This will be the lantern house for your night light friend.
7. Using the folds you made in the roof of the lantern (carefully) snip little shapes.
8. You can experiment with as many different shapes as you like. The more holes you cut, the more your lantern will shine.
9. Once you've finished your masterpiece, pop your night light friend inside their new lantern home and switch them on.
Ricecracker looks so warm and cosy in their new lantern home. We can't wait to create lots of different homes for their friends too - Ricehawking, Ricecarrot and Ricepudding all need one.
