Meet Lauvely!
We have just discovered Lauvely, a brand of absolutely beautiful hand knitted toys and illustrated items by designer Laura Cima. Read her interview bellow and find out where the world of Lauvely comes from!
We have selected some of our favourites from the Lauvely toy range and teamed them with a Noodoll friend, so you can get two wonderful toys for £75! Discover the collection here!
Could you introduce yourself and your world?
I was born in Oviedo, but now I live in Gijón, beside the sea, with my partner and our four cats. I always wanted to study Fashion Design but I ended studying Advertising Graphics and, luckily, I discovered a fascinating job that allowed me to get in contact the world of photography and illustration. For over 10 years I worked as graphic designer until it came the day when I thought that it was better to design for the best customers: children. And that is how Lauvely was born.
We love the themes in your toy ranges (the circus, the sea) what themes do you want to explore next? Creating the collections in relation to a theme gives me many possibilities and I have a lot of ideas in mind, like for instance making a version of each of my four cats…
Did you have a favourite toy as a child?
I liked very much a Spanish doll called Nancy; I enjoyed combing her hair and making dresses and knitting sweaters for her. I still keep two of them. As I lived in a country house I also enjoyed riding my bike and going out with my brother, climbing the trees, picking blackberries and chestnuts…
Your toys are beautifully coloured, where does your colour inspiration come from?
Inspiration may come from different places: as graphic designer I feel inspired by design, illustrated children’s tales, painting, movies… but also by the color of an old wall, a childhood memory, etc.
You have only recently opened your toy shop, we think it's great, how has it been the first few months?
I opened my shop just a month and a half ago and the reception could not have been better. I am very glad that the toys, the website, the brand and the pictures have liked everybody very much. It has been a month and a half very intense and I only have words of gratitude. I am excited to see my dolls travelling to different parts of the world and to know that, from that moment, they become part of a family, that they belong to wonderful children now and perhaps they become their best friends. And I am also very thrilled because I am sure that this project will allow me to meet wonderful people like you and it will come loaded with surprises.
